Pervasive Escape Game 2019

The Red Dragon

The Red Dragon was one of the first and largest permanent pervasive games in Iran, designed as a reaction against standard, uncreative "panic room" escape games. Hosted within the Avacenter commercial complex in Tehran, the game utilized a Chinese mafia theme inspired by the building's proximity to the Chinese Embassy. Between 6 and 17 players took on the roles of strike mission agents attempting to locate a hidden safe room and identify a mafia chief within a 90-minute timeframe.

Spatial Distribution

Players were divided into four distinct groups (Scorpions, Octopuses, Vipers, Vultures) and distributed across different functional areas of the complex, including commercial floors, the parking lot, and the food court.

Asymmetric Gameplay

The Scorpions began the game "trapped" in the hidden safe room with activated security traps, while the exact location of the room remained unknown to the other teams.

Networked Collaboration

Riddles were interdependent; clues found by one group were required by another to progress. This necessitated constant wireless communication between the separated teams and the game master acting as operation commander.
