Horror Pervasive Game & Experiential Travel Tour 2022

Ghost Hunters

Ghost Hunters was designed as Iran's first horror environmental game played in an undecorated, real-world outdoor setting. The project merged an immersive 3-hour pervasive game with a fully managed 2-day recreational tourist trip from Tehran to the Lafoor forest. The narrative, puzzles, and atmosphere were deeply rooted in local regional culture and legends concerning a haunted wooden cottage. Note: The project's launch was postponed due to political unrest.

Phase 1 - Integration (The Bus)

The narrative onboarding begins during the journey from Tehran, where players learn the story and are taught a local play that secretly functions as a game mechanic.

Phase 2 - Approach (The Forest)

At dusk, players undertake a 40-minute walk through the forest toward the cottage, encountering initial narrative clues, basic puzzles, and staged atmospheric elements.

Phase 3 - Investigation (The Cottage)

Over 90 minutes, players use oil lamps to navigate the dark cottage and its surroundings, solving eight complex puzzles to unlock rooms while interacting with live actors.

Phase 4 - Climax (The Ritual)

The final 50-minute phase requires players to participate in a mass summoning ritual, solve a final puzzle to identify haunted objects, and physically burn them in a fire to complete the game.

Game Story

A wooden cottage in the heart of the jungle is possessed by an evil ghost and it is bothering the residents of the surrounding villages. So far, anyone who has tried to approach or enter the cottage has been brutally killed or driven insane. The locals tell many legends about this ghost, but no one really knows what is going on in that cottage. You are a group of ghost hunting experts who have come together to uncover the secret of this cottage. The journey you have started may never come to an end...
